We work in Dekpor, Ghana where all residents live below the poverty level and face a daily struggle to survive.
Our areas of focus:
One of our directors lives in Dekpor — we are able to work with the residents of Dekpor to best service their needs. Our overhead is minimal (our only expenses are maintaining our domain status, annual financial statements, and foreign exchange costs), so your donation goes exactly where you allocate it! We are volunteers who work hard to make the most of every dollar donated.
Dekpor School Development Organisation is a registered Canadian charity and recognized NGO in Ghana. (Since 2011)

We're making a difference!
The 3 vehicles filled with items for Dekpor were driven from Newmarket to the shipper today, with a BIG thanks to Shameela, Mary Beth, and Carol. See the album in the Shipping Project page!

The school's soccer goalposts were in bad shape. We fixed them! See the Step by Step Project page for more.
The ceiling in the school's computer lab needed some major help! The rodents were not only destroying the ceiling material, but also getting to the wires!
Two of the town toilets in Dekpor Yia required some major masonry work! We needed to deal with damage from erosion and ensuring water would be diverted in the future. Check out Step by Step in the Project pages for more.
The team of dentist just came to Dekpor! 698 students seen and everyone who needed treatment got it! Look here! A big thanks to the participants of Ghana Nourish Minds and all of their supporters--YOU funded this important initiative!
We are thrilled that Ana Vegega, Scott Burch and their friend Haki came to help distribute Basics Kits and visit for the day!
We are jumping for joy! The Basics Kits were distributed at Dekpor Basic. An overwhelming response to our campaign meant we could do this in a BIG way! See the write up and album!
We just bought 100 literacy textbooks that were needed for our JHS 3 literacy classes.
Elle Bowman brought 5 Semester At Sea staff friends to visit Dekpor for the day. (See the Volunteers and Visitors page in our Projects.)
